Democracy, Governance & Credible election

Elections: Nigeria is a multiparty democracy and elections are conducted at every level of government – Federal, State and Local Government Area levels. Elections into elective Federal and State level offices are conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), a federal statutory body charged with the conduct of such elections (including all elections into elective offices in the Federal Capital Territory).

Centre for Transparency Advocacy is an accredited Domestic Observer group by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). To this end, CTA has been mobilizing domestic observers since 1999. CTA has discharged this function creditably not only during general election but in off-season and off-circle elections across the country. We have constantly kept the Election Management Body on its toes to deliver credible polls. To contribute to this, CTA conducts activities in the areas of voter education, enlightenment programmes on the Continuous voter education, civic rights among others. Importantly, our election observation reports are credible, and our recommendations have contributed immensely to the incremental progress recorded in the electoral process by INEC.
