Highlights from the Grand Cultural Rally of Abuja Original inhabitants, featuring exhibitions and dance. Centre for Transparency Advocacy with support from MacArthur Foundation through Resource Centre for human rights and civic Education(CHRICED) Commemorating the International World Indigenous People’s Day 2022 at the Old Parade Ground Area 10, Abuja.
Cultural rally plays a very significant role in the promotion of the rights of indigenous people of FCT. It is a live performance that is devoted to showcasing the richness of the culture of the Original Inhabitants of FCT. It is an exhibition of their work of Art, music and culture in general.
Objective(s) of the activity:
– To display the dynamics in culture and traditions of the Original Inhabitants of FCT.
– To commemorate 2022 United Nations International Day of World’s Indigenous People with the indigenous of FCT in focus.
Outcomes:
Some of the achievements of the cultural rally are stated as;
– United the different tribes of the FCT indigenous people to showcase their culture
– Increased awareness of the still existing culture of the Original Inhabitants of FCT by the cultural showcase.
Conclusions/ Recommendations
The meeting came to an end about 5:00pm with the random display of cultures and traditions. It was also an opportunity for the different tribes to get to learn more about themselves and network.
